The Masterclass explores the importance of corporate governance as a businesscrical funcon for business growth and development; how effecve boards, and effecve directors, lie at the heart of the governance eco-system, and the role and responsibilies of directors for introducing and implemenng best-pracce corporate governance systems

The workshop will therefore idenfy what good governance looks like, what gets in the way of good governance, and how governance dysfuncon can be addressed and tackled. In parcular, the Masterclass will focus on the crical governance tool of a board evaluaon, how this exercise should be conducted, and by whom, and what the outputs of the exercise should be

Throughout, the Masterclass will emphasise the fact that good governance will differ from Region to Region in the world. Different jurisdicons have varying approaches in terms of legislaon, regulaon and guidance, and the forms of governance created in Regions such as Asia and Africa should reflect local circumstances, rather than imitate the systems coming from the West

Delegates aending the Masterclass will be able to take part in group and table discussions to compare and contrast the governance systems in their own countries. There will be exercises where best pracces will be explored and shared. And case studies will be used to explain and illustrate how governance issues are a daily part of organisaonal life

  • Develop key result areas for your board and individual directors.
  • Identify the relevant legislation of the Companies Act and the applicable guidelines of corporate governance codes of conduct best practices.
  • Understand the correlation between good corporate governance and shareholder value creation and wealth maximization.
  • Handle directors dilemmas and adopt approaches that support innovation and business development.
  • Typical obstacles to director contribution and board effectiveness and how they can be overcome.
